If you buy tinned Tuna please read this

The way most Tuna are caught is not just barbaric but mindless. A floating object that looks a bit like a raft is placed in the sea (It's called a Fish Aggregation device - FAD ). Small fish are attracted to it, which in turn attracts larger sealife-this includes Tuna, Sharks, Turtles, Rays, and Dolphins. Large Fishing boats then turn up with vast nets 100km long and circle the area - (this is called Purse siening). They catch EVERYTHING in this net and have what is termed as bycatch or discards. Anything that isn't a TUNA dies! They chuck back the dead fish, rays, sharks (hacking their fins off first) etc like its old rubbish.

Britains are the largest buyers of tinned Tuna so we must do something about this.

There is a more selective way to fish Tuna called Pole and Line, It is done by hand and only fishes out adult Tuna -Sainsbury's, M&S and Waitrose stock it. It will be labeled Pole and Line.

I urge everyone who reads this to only buy this kind of tinned Tuna in the future.

Greenpeace are running a campaign on their website to email Princes to pressure them into changing their disgusting fishing methods (They are the worst offenders of this marine slaughter). If you go on their website www.greenpeace.org -click on the 'write to Princes'...it's in the bottom right hand corner of their home page.

You just need to add your name and click send-just think what a difference this could make-PLEASE, PLEASE DO IT NOW!!

Thank you xxx

It's coming...

... at last the signs that spring is not far away. The dafs are coming through, buds are appearing on the blueberry bush and my new look easypeasy leaflet has been printed!

I've included before and after pictures from a garden we did last year with a wonderful testimonial from the client.

So things are going to start hotting up soon - can't wait to get back out into the garden - I miss it so much in the winter-it's like loosing a whole room of the house. Having said that it's a bit of a mud bath out there!

Nearly ready to launch...

..well I've finally got my soap packaging sorted out-just need to refine the product. Should be ready to launch just before Valentines day!

Didn't realise fabric was so expensive though-does anyone know of a good place to buy it in the UK? Looking for lovely checks and stripes-nice french farmhouse feel, pretty little hearts that kind of thing.

Grow your own and save £26 a week....

....allotment holders save almost £1,400 a year by growing their own fruit and veg research claims.
On average they spend £202 renting their plot, sowing crops, buying seeds, tools and fertiliser giving a profit or saving of £1,362. This equates to a saving of about £26 from the average family's weekly shopping bill. The study was carried out by the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners. The survey was based on a 300sq yd plot.

The study showed the average allotment holder spends 203 hours a year on their plot, although that includes relaxation and chatting as well as hard graft.

There are approximately 330,000 allotments in Britain with 100,000 people on waiting lists.

Steamed fish parcels...

... this is such a simple recipe, but really tasty, its become one of my favourites!

Ingredients: 10 cherry tomatoes
3 garlic cloves, crushed
20 pitted black olives
juice of 1 lemon
glug of olive oil
2 handfuls of french beans
handful of ripped basil
4 white fish steaks

Put tomatoes, olives, garlic, lemon juice, beans, basil and olive oil in a bowl. Leave for about half an hour to marinade.

Heat oven to 200c.

Cut 4 squares of baking paper and place a quarter of the mixture in the middle, put the fish on top then fold up the baking paper to make a sealed parcel-secure with string and bake for about 20 minutes.

You can serve it to the table in the parcel or tip it out.

I serve mine with baby potatoes.

I'm making homemade soap tonight and its such fun!

Dean bought me a bar of homemade soap for Christmas and it's delicious-how hard can it be to make my own though? So here goes-I've bought the basic ingredients-block of raw soap, oils, colours and mold.

So here is my first attempt! I've decided to do some small sample tests in an ice cube tray for starters, then once I've got a smell and colour I like I shall use my bigger mold which is about the size of a brick then slice it up.

My plan is to wrap it in beautiful fabric, design some labels and brand them easypeasysoap. I have my first stockist lined up.

I think this could be the start of something beautiful! I love it!!

Delicious, delicious, delicious.....

... I looked in the fridge and there it was - my homemade mint jelly. I just had to have lamb tonight. If you haven't made it and you normally eat the stuff out of a jar you simply have to try this-it's a bit time consuming, but well worth every minute. The recipe is called 'Ram inspired mint jelly'
